“Far away the ships sail, thousand hands unload and build. We conquer the shore and wave, a port we are building here…” Leah Goldberg’s poem brings to life the excitement of building the first Hebrew harbor. While walking on the renovated pier, we can easily imagine the Orange boxes, smoke and steam, and the workers’ calls in the bustling harbor. We will walk through what used to be the “Levant Fair”, the beautifully decorated pavilions and buildings of the annual exhibition hosting over 30 countries, including Arab states, which attracted hundreds of thousands to its coffee shops, entertainment shows and amusement park.
